How to form an LLC online
Last verified: 4 min read

To form an LLC online, you pick a name and a state, appoint a registered agent, file the Articles of Organization with the State, and sign an Operating Agreement. With EXNNA you do it all from one form: the order takes about two minutes, and New Mexico usually approves in 1–3 business days. The EIN and the bank account come after.
What are the steps to form an LLC?
Every U.S. state follows the same order, with its own forms and fees.
- Pick a name. It needs an LLC designator and must be free in the state.
- Pick a state. It sets the filing fee, the yearly cost and what the public record shows.
- Appoint a registered agent. The company's official address in the state for legal mail.
- File the Articles of Organization. The public filing that creates the company.
- Sign an Operating Agreement. The private contract that says who owns the LLC and how it's run.
- Get an EIN. The LLC's federal tax ID.
- Open a bank account. With a U.S. bank or fintech.
How do you form an LLC online with EXNNA?
You fill in one form. We handle the filing.
| You | EXNNA |
|---|---|
| Enter a name, two backups, member count, email | Checks the name with the State |
| Sign the service agreement online | Signs the Articles as organizer and provides the agent |
| Pay by card | Files with the New Mexico Secretary of State |
| Follow each step in your dashboard | Delivers the Articles and the Operating Agreement |
You pay the total in U.S. dollars or in your local currency, where available, by card, online. Anyone can open an LLC: any individual, with or without a passport, except people in the small number of sanctioned countries. No ID documents are needed.

Which state should you form your LLC in?
We form LLCs in New Mexico (NM), a U.S. state, for two reasons. Its Articles of Organization don't have to list the owners or managers, so with EXNNA as organizer and agent, your name stays off the public record. And a domestic New Mexico LLC files no annual report and pays no annual fee to the Secretary of State. Compare it in New Mexico vs Wyoming vs Delaware, or read how an anonymous LLC works.
How much does it cost to form an LLC online?
$200 in total with EXNNA. That includes New Mexico's $50 filing fee (NMSA 1978 § 53-19-63) and a registered agent for 12 months, which then renews at $99 a year if you renew. EIN assistance is +$50. Every line is in what an LLC really costs, and every option is on our pricing.
What do you get once the LLC is formed?
- Articles of Organization, filed and approved by the State.
- Operating Agreement in PDF and editable DOCX. If you gave us the members' details, it arrives filled in; if not, the fields are blank for you to complete.
- Registered agent for 12 months, with basic mail (3 letters a year) scanned to your dashboard.
Then the EIN, which you need for a bank account, payments and taxes. We can get it for you with your formation, or later. Here's how long each step takes.
What name can you use?
In New Mexico, the name must contain "limited liability company", "limited company", "LLC", "L.L.C.", "LC" or "L.C." (§ 53-19-3). Give us two backups: if the first is taken, we file the next one available.
