Is an LLC owner's name public?
Last verified: 4 min read

An LLC owner's name is public only if the state puts it on the formation record. In New Mexico (NM), a U.S. state, the Articles of Organization don't have to list the owners or managers, so your name isn't on the public record. With EXNNA, that record shows us as organizer and registered agent. Ownership lives in your Operating Agreement, which stays private.
Is an LLC owner's name public in New Mexico?
Anyone can search New Mexico's business records and open the filed Articles. For an LLC formed with EXNNA, they show:
- The company name, file number and filing date
- Our registered agent and its New Mexico address
- The principal place of business and mailing address
- Management: "managed or under the authority of a Manager(s)"
- Member and Manager Information: None Entered
- EXNNA as organizer
No owner's name. See how an anonymous LLC works for the full picture.

Why does it matter who signs the filing?
Two roles are always named on the record. The organizer signs and files the Articles. The registered agent is the company's official address in the state for legal mail. If you sign as organizer, your name is on the filing. EXNNA fills both roles, so the record shows us. Here is what a registered agent does.
Where is the LLC's ownership kept?
In the Operating Agreement, a contract signed by the members that says who owns the company and how it's run. It isn't filed with the State. You keep it, update it when ownership changes, and show it to a bank or partner who needs proof.
We prepare it in PDF and editable DOCX. Give us the members' details and it arrives filled in; skip them and the fields come blank. Basic adjustments are included; custom clauses are quoted first. Read what an Operating Agreement proves.
Who else can see who owns the LLC?
| Who | What they ask | When |
|---|---|---|
| IRS | A real person as the LLC's responsible party | When you get an EIN |
| Banks and fintechs | The company's documents and the owners' identity | When the LLC opens an account |
| Exchanges and payment providers | The same, under their own rules | When the LLC signs up |
| EXNNA | Member count and an email | When you order |
None of them puts your name on the State's public record. The EIN step is explained in how to get an EIN without an SSN.
Can anyone look up who owns my LLC?
Not on New Mexico's public record: there, the LLC owner's name isn't public. The record shows the company, our agent and us as organizer, and it stays that way. A bank or the IRS knowing who you are is a different thing: that information goes to them, not onto the public record.
You can form your private LLC online in about two minutes, with no ID documents. You pay the total in U.S. dollars or in your local currency, where available, by card, online. Every option is on our pricing.
